Director Sergey Malkin on 'Yura Was Here', Punk, Style, and Honest Cinema — Exclusive Katch
In the summer of 2022, Malkin, who was living with friends, had Uncle Yura move in for a few days. The story happened under exactly the same circumstances as shown in the film. All of Malkin's works are based on personal experience. The main role of Yura was played by Konstantin Khabensky, who received the Grand Prix for Best Actor at the 'Mayak' festival.
The director is fond of heavy music, so every track in the film is what Malkin himself loves and listens to. This is how songs by the Bryansk band Kickchill and Tver rockers 'Pioneer Camp Dusty Rainbow' appeared in the film.
